Following the July signing by the United States of a Participation Contract for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the groundbreaking ceremony for the USA National Pavilion, the USA Pavilion organizers have expanded the Board of Directors of the Pavilion operating entity, Shanghai Expo 2010. Announcement of the appointments of Kenneth Jarrett, Brenda Foster and Jeffrey Li to the Board was made on August 31by Shanghai Expo 2010's co-founders, Nick Winslow and Ellen Eliasoph.
"We are proud and honored to announce that Ken Jarrett, Brenda Foster and Jeffrey Li, all highly respected members of the American business community in China, have agreed to join our Board of Directors," said Winslow. "The addition of these stellar individuals to our Board elevates the stature of the project and enhances the Board’s visibility and outreach capabilities."
"Ken, Brenda and Jeffrey have been staunch supporters of the USA National Pavilion initiative since inception, and have each in their own way been instrumental in moving the effort forward. Their vision, skills and resources will help us realize the full potential of the USA Pavilion project," said Eliasoph.
Jarrett, who will assume the Chairmanship of the Board, is Vice Chairman of APCO Greater China, and in his prior role as the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai from 2005-2008, worked tirelessly to ensure that the U.S. would participate in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Foster, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, has led an extensive business and media outreach effort aimed at ensuring a robust U.S. presence at the Expo. Li, President of Novartis in China and a member of the influential Chinese-American business association the Committee of 100, has been an active participant in the Committee’s fund-raising and outreach work on behalf of the project.
Shanghai Expo 2010 is the non-profit corporation that is carrying out the fund-raising, design, construction, and operation of the USA National Pavilion project on behalf of the government of the United States of America. The new Board appointees will join Winslow, Eliasoph and Frank Lavin, who also serves as Chairman of the USA Pavilion's Steering Committee, on the Board of Shanghai Expo 2010.
